Legendary BU Alum Ralph Lawler Receives Staples Center Honor
Ralph Lawler (BU ‘61), legendary broadcasting voice of the Los Angeles Clippers will have a room at the Los Angeles Staples Center named in his honor. Lawler, who has called nearly 2,200 Clippers games has been the voice of the team since 1978. Lawler, a 1961 Speech and Theatre grad, has remained an enthusiastic BU alumnus.

Ralph Lawler [r], joined award-winning BU Professor Dr. Ron Koperski and his Entertainment Industry Seminar students at the Gala 2005 Slane College Los Angeles Reception last January.
He returned to the BU campus last June and toured the facilities of the Caterpillar Global Communication Center with Interim Chairperson Paul Gullifor. Ralph was very impressed with our facility and the international-class activities taking place there. Ralph kept shaking his head and saying, “I can't believe this. It’s incredible how far we have come since my days at Bradley. Slane College students are incredibly fortunate to have this facility.” Ralph was especially excited at the prospect of a new Sports Communication Program which is under consideration and development in the Department of Communication.
