Dean of the Slane College

Dr. Jeffrey H. Huberman has worked in communication and fine arts as a teacher, administrator, stage director, producer, and author. He received his bachelor's degree in speech and theatre from the University of Pittsburgh, and from Indiana University he received a master's degree in directing and a doctorate in theatre history and criticism. He has taught at Salem State College, the University of Massachusetts, and the University of Texas. He has been at Bradley since 1985, serving as Professor of Theatre Arts, Associate Dean, and the Dean of the Slane College of Communications and Fine Arts. Jeffrey Huberman has directed more than 70 theatrical productions for both academic and professional theatres and is the author of two books and four plays. He is an active participant in civic, artistic, and educational organizations.

As principal academic and administrative officer, the Dean promotes and insures the highest standards of achievement for the students, faculty and programs of the College. Responsibilities include providing effective programs for students, advocacy of faculty progress toward professional goals, development of resources to support the college mission, and execution of administrative functions necessary for college operations. The Dean both initiates innovations and facilitates proposals by students and faculty. The Dean's office provides student and faculty services from its central location at the Caterpillar Global Communications Center.

Jim Ludwig

Betty Jane Lawrence
Associate Dean of the Slane College

"BJ" Lawrence teaches the basic communication course in the Department of Communication. She has served as the course director and program administrator for this general education course. An active member of the Bradley community, Ms. Lawrence has served on the University Senate, the University Affirmative Action Committee (Chairman), the University Retention and Recruitment Committee, the Task Force to Improve Human Relations, and the Academic Review Board. Her basic communication course was adapted for Bradley's Study Abroad program which she teaches in Vienna, Austria during the May interim. She has participated in several seminars with the Carnegie Institute for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. An advocate of the use of technology, Lawrence has been involved with the BlackboardTM on-line student information system since its introduction on campus. Lawrence has been awarded the Bradley University Francis C. Mergen Award for Community Service, the BU Parent's Association award for Faculty of the Year, and the Student Senate award for Academic Advisor of the Year.

Ms Lawrence serves as 2007 President, Illinois Speech and Theatre Association (ISTA.) She has presented numerous papers at ISTA, Central States Communication Association, and National Communication Association.

The Associate Dean plays a conceptual and contributory role in promoting the highest standards of achievement for both students and faculty; facilitates development of academic programs and policies; supervises the Office of Student Records; resolves issues relating to grades, advising, requirements and registration; and assists the dean with special projects such as interdisciplinary, technological and international initiatives. The Associate Dean guides the Slane College Global Scholar program which recognizes students' accomplishment with international study.

Joan Wilhelm

Joan Wilhelm
Administrative Assistant to the Dean

Mrs. Wilhelm manages the Office of the Dean in providing administrative and support services to individuals and to the departments. She monitors reporting cycles, budgetary matters, and program implementation. Mrs. Wilhelm is responsible for arrangements for visitors, interdepartmental projects, and college programs such as meetings and ceremonies.

Director of Development

The Director of Development works with the Dean and Department Chairs to coordinate alumni and donor relations for the College. Activities include meeting alumni and donors; establishing scholarships; acknowledging gifts; assisting with special events; and helping the Dean acquaint alumni, parents, corporations, and friends with opportunities to invest in the Slane College.

Vicki Tomblin

Vicki Tomblin
Student Records

The Office of Student Records is responsible for the maintenance and accuracy of all student academic records within the College. Ms. Tomblin advises students concerning their records; monitors their academic standing; evaluates transfer credits; processes changes or declaration of major/minors; and certifies students for graduation. She supports the academic mission of the University and plays a pivotal role in academic policy matters. Ms. Tomblin serves as a liaison with other departments and operating units. She works closely with the Associate Dean to resolve students' academic concerns.

Jan Ringenberg

Secretary, Dean's Office
Support Staff, Multimedia Program

Mrs. Kroenke provides secretarial support to the Dean, Associate Dean, Administrative Assistant, and Multimedia Program Director and faculty. Her duties include serving as College receptionist, preparing correspondence and reports, compiling data for reports, and scheduling meetings. She assists with the scheduling of Visit Days for prospective students and parents and serves as clerical support to the College Student Advisory Committee.
