Interactive Media Works in Progress: Rock Show!
On January 21, 2011, the Department of Interactive Media and Department of Theatre Arts in conjunction with Student Affairs aim to create a highly engaging collaborative environment that transforms participants into performers. The three principal groups will be working together to present a Late Night BU event that will bring together over fifty students across the campus, under the direction of key faculty, in the conceptualization, pre-production, production, and documentation of the experience. We expect over 1000 Bradley students to attend the event between the hours of 10pm and 2am on January 21st in the Markin Center as part of the Late Night BU event series. Headlining the event will be twenty rock star performances from the Department of Theatre Arts. The Rock Stars will perform on stage while members of the audience control the lighting and other environmental elements in the room. Interactive Media students will be designing, coding and distributing mobile applications that allow participants to engage with the performers using their personal mobile device and through iPads. Additional large-scale interactives will allow large components of the audience to participate through coordinated play. Late Night BU participants will become video stars, VJs, and composers throughout the four hours. We envision the event taking place in the large gymnasium area in the Markin Center and that the performance space can accommodate a very large Late Night BU crowd.
