Interactive Media Works in Progress: IM113
“Works in Progress” highlights IM projects
Last September, Zach Dalin and Jim Ferolo started planning how they would make the Department of Interactive Media (IM) more prominent on the Internet. Dalin, a junior interactive media major, Ferolo, chairman of the department, decided to create stories and videos highlighting various projects, called “Works in Progress”.
“The overall goal for ‘Works in Progress’ is to show current and prospective Bradley students what happens in the Department of Interactive Media and to showcase some of the amazing work that comes out of it,” Dalin said.
Recently, Dalin worked on a project for Heather Ford’s IM 113 class. According to Ford, the goal of IM 113 is to achieve a basic understanding of the components of digital media including design, color, text, images, sound, video and the Internet. Students learn to create, digitize, and manipulate media through a series of lectures, demonstrations, and assignments.
Dalin interviewed Ford and sophomore Laura Schirmer, an IM and theatre arts major, about the IM 113 photography project for the latest “Works in Progress.” Ford thinks the project will expand the IM department.
“It allows [IM] students to look forward to the excitement, learning, and innovative projects they will be working on as they progress through the program,” Ford said.
Dalin says “Works in Progress” challenges him to be creative with audio and visual design. After graduation, Dalin hopes to apply his skills to website design, the creation of promotional material, and management of social media for a large company.
