Heather Brammeier, M.F.A.

Heather Brammeier is Associate Professor of Art in the area of painting. Heather earned her M.F.A at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, where she studied with world-renowned painters, sculptors, and critics including John Moore, Robert Slutzky, Terry Adkins, and Robert Storr. 

Invitational group exhibitions in New York City include Re-Generation at The Painting Center, It’s Gouache and Gouache Only, at Jeff Bailey Gallery and Living Room: The Politics of Taste and the Art of Decoration at Storefront 1838.  Heather has had solo exhibitions in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, New York, and South Carolina. Jjuried exhibitions include shows at the Sioux City Art Center (Iowa), the Lexington Art League (Kentucky), and Annmarie Garden Sculpture Park and Arts Center (Maryland).  She was awarded an honorable mention in the Rock Island Fine Arts Exhibition at Augustana College (Iowa).  

 Heather’s professional growth is catalyzed by artists’ residencies.  In the summer of 2010, Heather visited France for the Pontlevoy Creative Residencies program, where artists live and work in an abbey that is nearly one thousand years old.  Heather also visited The Banff Centre in 2010 for an artist’s residency set directly in Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada.  Other residencies include the Prairie Center of the Arts (Peoria, IL, 2007), Byrdcliffe Artists’ Colony (Woodstock, NY, 2007), and Yaddo (Saratoga Springs, NY, 2011). 

 Heather is represented by Moberg Gallery in Des Moines, IA.  As an assistant professor at Bradley University, she teaches all levels of painting, including graduate study, as well as drawing and fundamentals of color.  She serves as Foundations Coordinator for the department, and teaches the graduate seminar in pedagogy.
