Dr. Margaret L. Young graduated from Washington State University in Pullman, Washington with a B.A. in Liberal Arts. She graduated from the University of Idaho a M.A. in Theatre. Her thesis was entitled Revolutionary Theatre in Northern Ireland. She received her PhD from the prestigious research institution of the University of Illinois (Institute for Communications Research). Her dissertation, Finding Charmstrings explored culture and communications by studying four generations of related women writers. She has won many state and national awards for her writing which has appeared in both academic and popular magazines across the U.S. and Canada. She has also worked in the communications field for more than 30 years as a deejay for radio, an actress in dinner theatre, a community reporter in journalism, a designer and account rep in advertising and a director of public relations for a large non-profit corporation. She has also taught speech, journalism, advertising and public relations both in a part-time and full-time capacity at Bradley University, the University of Idaho, Seattle Community College, Carl Sandburg College and Knox College. Her current research follows her eclectic commercial career with studies in material culture, women and communications, children and advertising, and the history of advertising. She has been nationally recognized as a journalist and as a publication/advertising designer. She has been with Bradley University since 1996.
