Chris Kasch is a communication generalist interested in applied communication theory and research. He received both his B.A. and M.A. from Illinois State University, and his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His teaching focus is in the area of organizational communication, small group communication, and computer-mediated communication. Professor Kasch has taught 17 different courses since coming to Bradley. Included among these are the three core courses that are required of all communication majors: COM 101 (Survey of Communication), COM 300 (Communication Theory), and COM 417 (Issues and Perspectives in Communication). He was also the architect of the major in organizational communication which launched in 2005. In 1996, Kasch was the first faculty member at Bradley to develop and teach multiple online courses including COM 491 (Interactive Advertising; COM 399 (Computer-mediated Communication), COM 397 (Virtual Teams), and COM 398 (Innovation and Organizational Change). Chris is co-author of one of the best-selling books in group communication, Communication in Small Groups: Theory, Process and Skills, Cengage Publishing, 2009.
