The Department of Communication is a learning community committed to the study of communication from both theoretical and applied perspectives. We integrate the academic study of communication with a commitment to pre-professional education in advertising, electronic media, journalism, organizational communication, and public relations. We seek to develop in our students the ability to discover, analyze and process information, think critically, engage in problem-solving, and construct messages in diverse media and other communication contexts. Our work focuses on ways in which the study and evolving practice of communication prepare students for a lifelong commitment to ethical, intellectual, socially responsible, and creative professional development.
