Fisher Stolz, Associate Professor of Art, received his M.F.A. degree from the University of Georgia. While an undergraduate, Stolz traveled to Italy; it was in Tuscany that he began to create sculpture. In 2005, he returned as a faculty member teaching sculpture in the studies abroad program during the summer semester. Ranging in scale from pedestal size pieces to large outdoor sculpture, Stolz uses the materials of stone, steel and bronze, often in combination with one another. He has received grants as an individual artist and for teaching and research excellence. Recent research using three dimensional modeling programs and rapid prototyping has lead to new possibilities for his students as well as in his own work. His sculpture has been exhibited in outdoor venues such as Grounds for Sculpture in New Jersey, O'Hare International Airport, and the Navy Pier in Chicago. Outdoor campus exhibitions include Western Michigan University, The University of North Carolina-Asheville, the University of Alabama and the University of Texas-Tyler. Stolz' work is in several collections including the King Plow Arts Center in Atlanta and Caterpillar.
